Coast Ridge Ecology

Based in San Francisco, California, we are a certified Local Business Enterprise with the City and County of San Francisco and a Certified Small Business Enterprise by the State Department of General Services. Coast Ridge Ecology (CRE) was established in 2007 and is led by Patrick Kobernus, Principal and Lead Biologist, who has 28 years of experience providing biological consulting services in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Coast Ridge Ecology possesses federal permits for the following listed species: California red-legged frog, California tiger salamander, and San Francisco garter snake. CRE also has extensive experience with many other special-status amphibians and reptiles, birds (including raptors), bats, butterflies, and plants in the greater San Francisco Bay Area region.

CRE's knowledge of biological resources and experience in permitting and regulatory compliance provide effective guidance to clients navigating through the environmental review process. CRE works closely with clients and with state and federal regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the National Marine Fisheries Service, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

CRE uses agency-approved survey techniques and performance standards based on the latest science to develop mitigation and monitoring plans and provide consistent and thorough reporting documentation. CRE also works closely with engineers, architects, agencies, and the local community to assist in designing and implementing effective habitat management and restoration projects, and endangered species monitoring programs.

CRE provides clients with a variety of biological services including:
  • Biological Assessments
  • Endangered Species Surveys
